Changelog

Platforms change their image requirements without announcing it. This page records every change we make to the figures published here, so you can see when something was updated and, if we got it wrong, when it was corrected.

  • Requirements Initial set of 16 verified destinations published

Every entry read directly from the platform’s own documentation, with the source link and verification date shown on each page. Destinations we could not source to an official page were left out rather than estimated — this notably includes United States passport photos, whose official specification page could not be retrieved, and Indian government examination forms, whose requirements are published only inside PDF notices we could not read reliably.

  • Tool First release

Byte targeting across resolution and encoder quality, ranked by a structural similarity measure; cropping with ratio presets; format conversion between JPEG, PNG and WebP; HEIC decoding; EXIF orientation applied to the pixels; and a per-rule compliance checklist on every result. Processing runs on a background thread where the browser supports it, and on the main thread on browsers that do not expose OffscreenCanvas, so the tool works on Safari as well as Chrome and Firefox.

How we review

Each destination page shows the date its source was last read. We re-check the set periodically and whenever someone tells us something looks wrong — which is the fastest way for an error to get fixed, so please do tell us.

When a figure changes, the old value is not quietly overwritten: the change is recorded here with the date, so anyone who relied on the previous number can see what happened.
